Agents Council for Technology

Established in January 1999, ACT is a part of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) and provides a candid, action-oriented forum to address the critical workflow and technology issues facing the Independent Agency System. ACT helps participants understand the perspectives of the other stakeholders in the process and provides excellent networking opportunities with the participants who are shaping the future for the industry on these issues.

A number of items will be posted under this communicator. These will include the ACT monthly article, ACT webinar information and other ACT information as selected by this site.

Ashley Whitney, CIC – Vice President – Harbor/Brenn Agencies

Ashley has been working in the insurance industry since the age of 12. She was asked to help cover the phones at her father’s insurance agency on Friday afternoons so the staff could go to the local pub. Times have definitely changed. Ashley is now vice president of the agency, overseeing the day to day operations. Having worked in nearly every position in the agency over the last 20 years, she has a good feel for workflows and sticking points that help her manage a staff of 15. She has played an active role in the AMS User’s Group at the state and national level. She achieved her Certified Insurance Councilor designation in 2009. She received the Young Charger Award from the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents, and chaired the MI Young Agents Council in 2009 when they won the highly coveted National Young Agents Council of the year award from IIABA. Ashley is passionate about technology, social media, workflows to improve efficiency, and getting things done!

Ray Hudaihed – Chief Technology Officer – Domina Technology Solutions

Ray has enjoyed an exciting and productive technology career spanning two decades. Ray’s diverse background spans designing and 
architecting commercial software to managing product teams for fortune 500 organizations. Ray has held many positions such as chief architect for SAIC/Lockheed, Director Of System Architecture for Canadian Pacific ,an IBM Service Oriented Architecture Consultant and holds certifications from Microsoft and Oracle.

The past few years Ray has been working with small and medium size business, third party administrators, pharmacy benefit managers and application service providers. He worked with these firms in evolving their business strategy and implementation by utilizing cloud computing model to achieve dramatic cost savings and explore unrealized revenue streams.

Rusty Keighron – Insurance Industry Manager – docSTAR

docSTAR as Insurance Industry Manager, Rusty is responsible for the overall short and long term success of docSTAR product offerings within the insurance industry. He is involved with development to insure that docSTAR’s system includes all necessary features that are required by the insurance industry. Rusty will represent docSTAR within the insurance industry and will work to further improve docSTAR’s business relationships with vendors, insurance carriers and other applicable entities in order to position docSTAR for maximum success within this important market segment. Rusty has over 20 years of sales, marketing and management experience in the insurance agency marketplace, mainly while working at AMS Services, a dominant supplier of agency management software. Rusty managed an inside sales team of nine representatives that grew sales to existing customers from $14M to over $22M in four years. After several successful years as a Sales Representative, Rusty was promoted to his first management role to lead the training process at AMS, including an effort to restructure product documentation into a cohesive, modernized multi-media package.

Prior to founding Domina Technology Solutions, Tina enjoyed a robust and distinguished 20 year career in the property and casualty insurance world. Tina has worked in a variety of insurance disciplines, including: insurance carrier, managing general agency, third party administrator, professional employer organization, pharmacy benefit manager and self insurer administrator. Her combination of information technology skills and insurance knowledge is a unique asset to her clients.
